Mehdy Rad, DMD, MS, is a widely respected and personable orthodontist at Rad Orthodontics, with locations in College Park, Potomac, Germantown, and Bethesda, Maryland. He’s passionate about helping his patients achieve a beautiful, healthy, and straight smile, and walking alongside them throughout their treatment.
Dr. Mehdy earned his bachelor’s degree from Boston University in Massachusetts with a major in ethical philosophy and minors in biology and chemistry. He obtained his dental degree from the Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine in Massachusetts, and he graduated on the Dean’s List. For his externship rotation, he practiced at the dental clinic on Ramey Air Force Base in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
Following his dental training, Dr. Mehdy attended a one-year residency in cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry at Boston Medical Center in Massachusetts, where he was given an award for clinical excellence. He went on to specialize in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at Boston University. While a student there, he was accorded the prestigious position of chief resident.
Dr. Mehdy stays dedicated to his passion for knowledge in his field by participating in continuing education. He serves as an associate clinical professor in the Department of Orthodontics at the University of Maryland Dental School in Baltimore. In addition, Dr. Mehdy lectures locally and nationally on a broad range of topics related to orthodontics. He also maintains memberships with the American Dental Association and the Greater Washington Orthodontic Society.
Dr. Mehdy lives with his wife and daughter in Potomac, Maryland, where he enjoys spending as much quality time with his family as possible, sharing smiles, and creating happy memories. In his spare time, he enjoys kiteboarding, snowboarding, bicycle racing, soccer, and playing guitar.
I got my appointment in August 2024, started my treatment end of September for 19 months. I am satisfied with the result! As an adult, I had a little space between my 2 front teeth and he fixed it! Dr David Rad was really patient with me with all my questions! I did not expect it but they still follow you after the treatment. It hurts but it worth it! I regretted not doing it before because it's more complicated as an adult but at least now I have a new smile and everyone around me are like "Wow!" :). My 9-year-old had a wonderful experience with Rad Orthodontics! She had a palate expander and braces on her upper teeth, and the entire treatment took less than a year. On the one occasion she experienced some discomfort, the team got us in right away and quickly resolved the issue. The staff was always kind, accommodating, and fantastic with kids. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and highly recommend them!

The Potomac Orthodontist Office Is TRULY The Best!! The Staff Goes Above And Beyond There Duties Making Your Experience Very Comfortable.Dr Rad Is Exceptionally In His Craft. He Makes You Feel Like Family And No Questions Are Never To Big Or Little To Get A Positive Answer 💯 I've Had Braces On Twice Before And Had The Worst Out Come. Coming To Dr Rad For Braces The Three Time Was The Best Choice I Will Be Referring My Family And Friends.
I just got my braces off this past Monday so this review encompasses my experience from the past 18 months.For the past year and a half, I have come in about every 6 weeks and I honestly don’t think I have had any negative experiences to note. All of the staff have been nothing but friendly and professional, especially the front desk staff. The techs and orthodontists (I have been seen by both Dr. Rad and Dr. Le) are always prepared. Either their memory is impeccable or their documentation is very thorough because I always feel like I am coming in where we left off. They also have very convenient locations for anyone living in the Rockville/Bethesda area and I love that even though I started my treatment at one location, the move to another location was pretty seamless. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but once all of my retainer follow ups are complete, I think I’ll actually miss going into the office.Overall, I highly recommend this practice. The orthodontists, techs, and other staff are top tier. If you are considering this practice for your child’s orthodontic needs, I can attest that they are also good with children just by witnessing some of the interactions around me during my appointments.Finally, just wanted to note that my appointments were always pretty quick after getting my braces on but they didn’t feel rushed. I was almost always seen on time as well.
